Sustainability of the project
By promoting the principles of energy efficiency, the project is
aiming at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, as well as those of
other gases, and securing a better budget in the Municipalities.
The achieved effects are in the long run. Reduction of GHG emission
by at least 15% after the insulation of the buildings and power
savings for at least 15% were realistic expectation if using the
energy efficiency strategies for the communities.
In addition to the reduced emission of ??2 and lower-cost electricity
bills, during the realization of the project, the project’s team
together with the consultants provided quality trainings for the
volunteers in the community, hoping that even upon the project’s
completion, the educated and trained volunteers will be able to
continually apply the learned techniques and methods for energy
efficiency on other buildings as well (both public and private).
Solar energy systems repay the investment in 5 to 7 years. Concerning
the announced forthcoming higher electricity costs, it is expected
for this period to be shorter, i.e. the investment should repay
in 3 to 4 years.
The successful implementation of the principles of energy efficiency,
upon the project’s completion, served as a good example that and
it is offered as a solution for other communities throughout Macedonia
as well.
